Never place batteries or rechargeable items in bins as they can cause fires in collection trucks. Bring these items to a major waste facility for safe recovery. No plastic bags! (empty or with contents) Items placed in a plastic bag or stuffed inside boxes are NOT recycled. Staff are required under Workplace, Health & Safety guidelines to avoid separating items. The contained items are sent to landfill. Remove lids & rinse containers in washing up water. Items that have been contaminated by food or liquids are disposed to landfill. Collapse boxes & cartons flat and remove all packaging material. Crush plastic bottles and cans to fit more items in your bin. Don't smash glass bottles or jars, as small glass pieces cannot be recycled Paper and cardboard that is laminated with plastic or foil, waxed cardboard boxes and plastic laminated paper or brochures are not accepted for recycling. These items belong in the general waste bin. This also includes take away/single use coffee cups, which need to be disposed of in the general waste bin (as they often contain a laminated layer/s). Place items loosely in the recycling bin so they can be sorted into their specific waste types
