Lids and caps can be left on bottles and jars and go into the recycle bin. However caps alone cannot be recycled as they are too small for the processor and should be placed in the garbage bin. There is no need to clean bottles, jars and cans before placing in the recycling bin, just make sure there is no liquid or food left in them. Pizza boxes are recyclable, just remove the left-over pizza before putting into the recycle bin. Soft plastics such as cling wrap and bread bags cannot be placed in your kerbside recycle bin, however Woolworths and Coles supermarkets have recycling bins for soft plastics. Pyrex, white glass and ceramics cannot be recycled. Please put them in your garbage bin. Coffee cups cannot be recycled due to them having a thin plastic lining. However the plastic coffee cup lid is recyclable, so separate and place the cup in the bin and lid into recycling. Do not put recycling in plastic bags as plastic bags are not accepted as recycling and the bag and its contents will go into landfill. Clothing cannot be recycled, items in good condition should be taken to your local op shop, otherwise place old clothing in your rubbish bin. Polystyrene is not recyclable and should go into your rubbish bin. Recycling is collected on the same day as garbage, but on every alternate week.
If you need a replacement kerbside recycling container, please contact Solo Resource Recovery on 03 5633 2009.
